Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Student Fellowship Center is a vibrant and growing communion of Christians...a Confessional Lutheran Church of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS). The LCMS is a church body of over 6,150 congregations with more than 2.5 million members. Worldwide, Lutheranism is the largest non-Roman Catholic denomination with 66 million members. The word "Missouri" reflects the geographic roots of this church... founded in the 1840's near St. Louis, Missouri. The word, "synod" means "walking together" and reflects the unity in doctrine and practice which the congregations of the LCMS share.
We call ourselves a "Confessional" church because we make and confess clear statements of faith about the things that we believe. All of our beliefs are derived solely from the Word of God... and openly expressed for all to study in our Lutheran Confessions in The Book of Concord.
Congregations which belong to the Synod maintain their own unique ministries while helping to support world mission work. Mt. Calvary is a church which stresses the importance of God's Word, the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and our justification before God by grace through faith in Christ.
Our mission is to remain faithful to the Triune God and our Lutheran identity by the preaching of Christ and Him crucified and to make His love known and shown within our church, community, and world.
Mount Calvary Lutheran is a congregation that:
- deliberately witnesses Christ Jesus to all people (Witness)
- visibly serves our community and world in the way Christ has served us (Mercy)
- participates with one another in the life of the church (Life together)
